Several years ago, I was walking
by a jewelry store window display, which was selling Landstrom's Original
Black Hills Gold Creations. The display included a photo of a prospector
and his mule, which completely captivated my thoughts. I could not
help but think of the deep friendship they would have shared. The life
of a prospector had to have been hard and lonely, and the only companionship
that was available was just foot steps away, his mule. The only thing
they would have had is each other. When gold is discovered , it will
be shared and rejoiced with his partner, the mule.
For two years, I would walk past that display, each time asking if I could have
a copy of that photo. Finally, the day came when they were done with their campaign
and they gave it to me.
At that time, I was not a serious artist, but decided to use the subject as a
test to see if I should get serious about my art. As my first serious painting,
I thought it turned out exceptionally well. The painting hangs in my living room
and continues to give me enjoyment every time I look at it. I hope it will also
provide hours of enjoyment to all who purchase it. |
