A pencil and ink character
study of a Maori Warrior. The Maori of New Zealand were famous for their
fierceness in battle and their body tattoos. Captain Cook visited New
Zealand on all three voyages around the world. There were several very
interesting accounts of the Maori in Cook's journals and those of his
men. The Maori and their culture like the Marquesans were uniquely different
from those of other Polynesian islands.
