Of all of the things that have shaped my passion, Hawaii and Polynesia have taken a leading role. I fell in love with Hawaii the first time I saw it, as most people do. I believe we are all searching for paradise, whatever that is for each individual. Hawaii and Polynesia provides an abundant source of peace and beauty in that regard. The beautiful land and the melodic sounds of the spoken word and song drove me to study their language and history. It is hard not to fall in love with paradise. You can still find it there in abundance if you take the time to look for it. I can but wonder, what it must have been like in the 1700's. A fair account can be obtained in the journals of Captain Cook and his men. The paintings I have chosen to represent this area of the 1700's exemplify the beauty of Polynesia and Hawaii and tell the stories of days long past.
